I knew I needed specific things before I could get started so I waited for the boyfriend to get here today and we went to Sports Authority. I bought a resistance band with heavy resistance. We tried it out in the store and it seemed to be the hardest for me. I was happy with that. We also bought me a new pull up bar, a removable one, so I could take it down when I'm finished. I bought push up handles, that I found I won't really need right away and the boyfriend bought me 15lb dumbbells because he says by the end of the third week, I'll need heavier then 8 and 10 pounders.
After that we set everything up and got started. Today was Chest and Back and Ab Ripper. He did some of the exercises with me, but really, he served as a coach for me. He corrected my form and encouraged me when I wanted to quit. Good thing he's so awesome! I was feeling really lucky to have him there. He showed me some modifications for things that were a bit too hard to me. The way it worked was you'd do 12 exercises for round one, as many reps as you wanted or felt like you could do in a minute. Then for round two, exercises 1 & 2 swapped, 3 & 4 swapped, etc.
All in all, here were my Day 1 Results:
Exercise: Round 1/Round 2
- Standard Push Ups: 12/10
- Wide Front Pull Ups: 20/17
- Military Push Ups: 10/7
- Reverse Grip Chin Ups: 20/15
- Wide Fly Push Ups: 10/10
- Closed Grip Overhand Pull Ups: 20/20
- Decline Push Ups: 10/5
- Heavy Pants: 17/15
- Diamond Push Ups: 7/6
- Lawnmowers: 15/20
- Divebomber Push Ups: 7/0 [These were SO HARD!!!!]
- Back Flys: 12/10
This helped me A LOT!!! I'd done something similar before and the band was stronger before, meaning it was doing most of the work. This time, I was doing most of the work and it was exhausting!!
Tomorrow morning we're waking up and doing Plyometrics for Day 2. Then I'm on my own....the bf can't help me during the week, only on weekends!
As soon as we were finished with Ab Ripper X, I collasped...
I hope that's a sign of what's to come!!
